Blue Mountains Snake Catching operates in the greater Blue Mountains area including the Hawksbury and Western Sydney regions. We also offer free snake identification and advice over the phone.
Snakes are not aggressive towards people, most bites occur when people try to catch or kill a snake. Keep a safe distance and stay calm.
Ensure that young children and pets are kept far away from the snake.
Not all snakes need to be relocated, however if you are at all concerned, then call for free advice. Take a clear photo if safe to do so as this will help with identification.
Once you have called, keep an eye on the snake from a safe distance and watch the snake until the snake catcher arrives - this is very important, as if you lose sight of the snake the chances of us being able to catch the snake decrease.
This is worth repeating - the vast majority of snake bites happen when people try to catch or kill the snake. Not only is this illegal, it also puts you at significantly higher risk of getting bitten.
Snake venom travels through the lymphatic system, the more you move around the more the venom will circulate through the lymphatic system. It is vital you stay as still as possible.
Or get a trusted person to call 000 for you. They will talk you through what to do.
Apply a compression or snake bite bandage to the affected limb. First remove any jewellery from the affected limb but leave clothes on. To apply a compression bandage, start from the bottom of the affected limb and end at the top of the affected limb, applying a firm even pressure across the entire limb. Most good bandages have rectangles that form squares when the pressure is correct. If possible mark the bite site with a pen on the bandage and splint the limb.
